The Top 10 First Dance Songs for 2022
By Theresa Farrage, S.Lukas & Company Associate Planner
From classic ballads to contemporary hits, first dance songs endure like the love that’s present at each wedding.
Finding that one song that defines your relationship isn’t an easy task though. Each couple I’ve worked with has their own way of interpreting their love through music.
One couple chose to forgo the traditional, romantic ballad and instead used heavy metal as their genre of choice.
I’ve seen everything from first dance flash mobs to choreographed waltzes and even a spicy salsa number complete with a wardrobe change. At this point, the year is 2022 and literally everything and anything goes, just as long as you make it your own and own the experience!
Don’t Stress! Follow these Steps:
Don’t stress about choosing a song that celebrates your love. Just follow these simple steps:
1. Select a song that has meaning to you as a couple.
2. Pick a tempo, whether fast or slow, that you’re comfortable dancing to.
3. When in doubt, pick something by Ed Sheeran.
Here are my predictions for the first dance songs that will be trending in 2022:
10. “Kiss the Girl” by Brent Morgan
For all the Disney fans out there, this one will provide all the nostalgic feels.
9. “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Haley Reinhart
Elvis sang this one best, but Haley breathes new life into this classic.
8. “No Matter Where You Are” (Wedding Version) by Us the Duo
The lyrics alone are enough to induce tears so keep a tissue handy.
7. “All of Me” by John Legend
You can’t have a wedding reception without this song so you might as well kick-it off right by playing it during your first dance.
6. “My Person” (Wedding Version) by Spencer Crandall
Again, the lyrics on this one will bring the emotions.
5. “I Get to Love You” by Ruelle
Soft and elegant this slow song is pure romance.
4. “Marry Me” by Train
Even though this song is over a decade old, it never goes out of style.
3. “From the Ground Up” by Dan + Shay
For all of the country fans out there, this song is for you.
2. “I Swear” by All-4-One
The 90’s are making a strong comeback and so is this slow jam.
1. “First Times” by Ed Sheeran
The talented singer who brought you wedding classics such as “Thinking Out Loud” and “Perfect” is back with a new song that’s sure to gain popularity in 2022.
When in doubt, just pick a song that holds a special place in your heart and conveys what you’re feeling about each other. Whether fast or slow, you’ll remember this moment forever.
