5 Wedding Trends for 2021

Christmas has come and gone and now we look (so excitedly, I might add!) to 2021 – I wanted to highlight some of my favorite wedding trends that I see becoming popular.

Welcome Box and/or Send-Off Kits

One of my favorite touchpoints as a wedding planner is to make the guest experience top-notch.  We all know that hand sanitizer, masks, and signage about staying 6-feet apart is the norm right now, but with shaved down guest lists – Welcome Boxes or Send-Off kits will be the norm.

What are Welcome Boxes or Send-Off kits you ask? These are boxes that contain an individual bottle of hand sanitizer, a mask and any other items that make the guest feel safe and comfortable at your event. You can even give them a “Send-Off Box” as they leave your event complete with candles, bath salts and other items to help them relax after all the fun they’ve had.

Single-Tier and Mini Cakes

Couples no longer need a huge cake to make an impact.  Instead – why not try single-tier cakes or mini cakes?  Not only does each guest get a piece of cake – they get their own mini-cake.  Not only is it delicious – but oh so cute too!

Individual mini-cakes vs. large wedding cakes are all the rage for 2021.

Wedding Colors with 2021 Pantone Colors:

Ultimate Gray & Illuminating Yellow

The Executive Director of Pantone has this to say about choosing these colors for 2021:

The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow Illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted; this is essential to the human spirit. - LEATRICE EISEMAN, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE PANTONE COLOR INSTITUTE

You might see these colors pop up in:

  • Wedding flowers

  • Accents and linens

  • Bridesmaid dresses

  • Stationery

  • Wedding Shoes and Accessories

  • Wedding Cake

  • Lighting

Truly – the possibilities are endless!

Brunch Weddings

As smaller, intimate weddings become more of the norm – couples are looking to brunch weddings and receptions which can also be held outdoors more easily among gardens, fields or under airy tents.  The best part is that guests have the option to continue to party throughout the day or take a nap and then return for evening festivities.

So grab your Bloody Mary or Mimosa and let S.Lukas and Company know how we can get to planning!

The Big Reveal

Now that social media is mainstream – couples are waiting to share their first photo of their nuptials with more of an editorialized moment on all social media channels.

Couples are looking for that “epic” announcement photo or unique shots to embrace the concept
“go big or go home.”

As the micro wedding trend stays, couples are now looking for more epic photos of their day and making it feel more like an editorial shoot than a wedding.  Couples are spending more on fashion and a photographer now than they have in the past too.

If you recently got engaged, congratulations!

S.Lukas and Company would be honored to help you with your wedding planning and perhaps even incorporate some of these trends into your big day!
